How beautiful it is to be transported into a different world, to love a character, to be in their shoes, to understand them, to relate and to feel what they are feeling... It's priceless. It is so amazing and heart shattering at the same time.
The fondness of the story keeps increasing as you keep reading and so does the pain when it's finally over.. An amazing book "The Fill-in Boyfriend" by Kasie West.
My currently aching heart tells me that I enjoyed the book more than anything and really wanted to live inside that temporary world which I eventually have to come out of. And how painful it is to think that the whole thing was a plot, just another amazing story.
That numbness when you realize that it's over and you have to face, the real rather boring world out there and you cannot always hide inside those books.
I don't generally write a review but I feel like I should share my views about this one anyway! Even though when I started this book I was not sure of completing it.
It is about a girl who actually has to steel herself to not show her pain and frustration for her family and friends' sake. Thinking that her friends and family will judge her for being herself, she tries really hard to satisfy all their expectations. Scared that she will hurt them if she behaves anything different from what is expected of her, she pretends to be fine, wears a fake smile.
But in return they don't even bother to see whether she is really happy or just pretending to be happy.
Finally she "gets caught", her lies are exposed and she realizes that no matter how much ever you try, it's difficult to keep everyone around you happy. She looses many friends but then she makes some new friends, the real ones which actually matter. She takes a step towards improving her relationship with her family.
This book also speaks a lot about social media, mostly the dark side of it.
As for being addicted with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram I think it depends on the person and what he uses them for. If a person posts something on social media it doesn't make him or her an addict. It's just a way of sharing something fun with their friends and followers. And aren't all we waiting for our favorite celebrity to post something on social media? How is that different from general public doing it? If this can be called an addiction than isn't checking our favorite celebrity's account, every moment for the recent posts be called prying and interfering in ones personal life? Think about it!
And the most important thing I learnt is, when people say "I'm fine!" they actually mean "I'm having a breakdown but since I cannot confide in you or anyone I'm smiling and pretending to be alright so that you leave me alone and I can continue to enjoy my lonely pity party peacefully"
So don't let people say "I'm fine" when you're around. Please don't let anyone add to the misuse of that phrase!
I end my rant here..
P.S. this was posted on my Tumblr blog long back but this book is so full of feels that I just couldn't stop myself from posting it here!
P.S. I'd like to say that don't judge a book by it's cover and not by review as well, because my perception and views will be very different from yours. It is not necessary that you like what I like and dislike what I dislike.
Read the book before you judge it.
